Highs and lows of 2024

Looking back at 2024, I’ve come to the conclusion there were more ups than downs, which is a pretty good way to end one year and start the next.

The highs

  • Launched the TimeHoppers Instagram community for lovers of historical fiction with a fellow hist fic obsessive

  • Celebrated friends’ book launches

  • The Third Letter named as a finalist in the Page Turner Awards’ Writing Award for 2024

  • Spent ten days away with my writing group on our own writing retreat

  • Finished the revisions of The Third Letter

  • Received a full manuscript request from an agent

The lows

  • Fell on the last day of skiing, spraining my thumb and fracturing my wrist

  • Lost a freelance business client after their company was acquired

  • And remember that full manuscript request I mentioned above? Received a rejection on that

But fewer lows than highs means that I’m declaring the year of 2024 to have been a success.
